The album presents two compositions by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, an American composer, conductor and pianist of Austrian origin. Admired by Gustav Mahler, Richard Strauss, Giacomo Puccini, Jean Sibelius and Artur Schnabel, Korngold’s work clearly refers to the Romantic tradition. The String Sextet in D major composed in 1914–1916 and the Symphonic Serenade in B flat major from 1947 most fully express the composer’s style.
Awards: nomination for Fryderyk 2018 in the category “Best International Album with Polish Music”
