Singing is the most organic form of music-making and a way of expressing emotions and personality. Singing has a beneficial effect on our body, both physically and mentally, and group singing also has invaluable social benefits. That is why, since the dawn of time, humans have used sounds for very different purposes, including religious ones, or as a means of deterring an opponent or magnifying one’s charm in the eyes of a partner. Today’s research clearly shows that when singing, the level of happiness increases and bonds are established between co-singers. Admiration for the phenomenon of group singing has accompanied the educational sessions of the Polish National Youth Choir from the very beginning. Each one, without exception, brought together young people who loved singing and at the same time wanted to improve their already impressive musical and vocal competences. A place was thereby created where consummate skills and a professional pace of work meet with enthusiasm and the joy of making music.

On the occasion of the project’s fifth birthday, we decided to express our vocal passion, so we asked twelve young Polish composers to write songs to freely selected texts reflecting their perspective on the broadly understood topic of singing. A collection of twelve extremely colorful compositions was created, each of which is different because each expresses a different creator. There were pieces written to both religious and secular texts, some inspired by the Renaissance motet and polychoral, and others by gospel music, jazz and blues. The combination of these twelve points of view of young composers with the talents and energy of sixty young singers created an extraordinary effect, which we decided to immortalise on this album. Therefore, it is with great joy that we present to you this special album, which is recorded evidence of how beautiful choral music created by young Polish artists is and how many wonderful performers of this music and lovers of singing there are in our country today.
